March 6, 2012

Three members of the Middlebury College women’s squash team have earned All-NESCAC honors. Senior Elena Laird (Cambridge, Mass.) and sophomore Abby Jenkins (Latham, N.Y.) were both named to the first team, while first-year player Charlotte Dewey (Greenwich, Conn.) earned second team honors. The group helped lead the team to a 16-8 record with an overall national ranking of 11th.

Laird qualified for individual nationals this year while also being a CSA scholar athlete. She finished up the season with a 12-10 mark, playing at #1 for the entire season.

Jenkins was Middlebury’s #2 this season, earning a 15-8 overall record to earn NESCAC honors, while also competing at nationals. She had some nice winning streaks during the season, winning five and six straight matches on different occasions.

Dewey had a solid rookie season for the Panthers, finishing with a 16-3 mark at #3. She opened the season by winning her first nine collegiate matches after returning from an injury.
