Women's Tennis Tops Brandeis

3/12/05 - The Panther women's tennis team opened up its spring season with a 9-0 win over Brandeis at home. Middlebury will head to <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />California at the end of the week for its annual spring break trip.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Winning singles matches were sophomore Claire Smyser (Houston, Texas) 6-4, 6-3, sophomore Amy Roche (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) 6-3, 6-1 and sophomore Emily Holick (Sudbury, Mass.) 6-2, 6-1. Other singles winners were first-year player Amy Berkman (Shelburne, Vt.) 6-0, 6-1, junior Maren Messing (New York, N.Y.) 7-5, 6-1 and sophomore Jackie Ross (Houston, Texas) 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles action, Ross/Smyser were 8-4 winners, Holick/Messing earned an 8-5 win, while Roche/Berkman were 8-1 winners.
