Roche & Smyser Competing At NCAA's - Duo Advances To Finals

Amy Roche and Claire Smyser took part in the NCAA individual championships from May 18-20th at Mary Washington University in Virginia. Roche competed in singles action, while the duo played together in the doubles bracket.
Roche had a nice run in singles play, coming from a set down and a 0-3 deficit to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the first round. The senior then advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory. Roche was eliminated in the quarters with a 6-4, 6-3 loss.
In doubles play, Roche and Smyser were impressive, advancing all the way to the NCAA championship match. The duo were 6-3, 6-2 winners in the first round, won their quarterfinal contest 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, while coming from a set down to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the semi's. They had to come from behind again in the championship match, dropping the first set 6-2. Roche and Smyser won the second set 6-4, before dropping the third set by the same score to their opponents from Amherst.
