All-NESCAC Women's Tennis Released - Roche Is Player Of The Year

Middlebury College women's tennis player Amy Roche (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) has been named the 2007 NESCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year, as decided by the conference coaches. Roche helped her squad secure the top seed in the NESCAC Women's Tennis Championship this year and a 10-4 overall record on the season heading into this weekend's NCAA Tournament.

Roche also earned first-team All-NESCAC in singles for the third year in a row, posting a 13-5 record. The NESCAC Rookie of the Year in 2004, Roche was also honored for her doubles play with a spot on the second-team, as she is 15-5 so far this season.

Claire Smyser (Houston, Texas) earned a spot on the second-team as a singles and doubles player in '07. The junior has a 12-6 mark in singles play this season, while also posting a 17-5 record in doubles play.

Smyser earned also earned the prestigious NESCAC Sportswoman of the Year award.
