Women's Tennis With Impressive Results At ITA's

The Panther women's tennis team opened up its fall season at the New England Region Championships hosted by M.I.T. Middlebury turned in some impressive performances, including players winning the singles and doubles brackets in the back-draw.
In singles play, sophomore Victoria Aiello (Milton, Mass.) advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 64-person bracket. She earned a pair of straight-set wins, before picking up a 6-4, 5-7, (12-10) win in the round of 16. She was eliminated 3-6, 6-3, (12-10) in the quarters by the bracket's top-ranked player.
Senior Jamie Haar (Alpine, N.J.) and rookie Brittney Faber (Minnetonka, Minn.) both had great runs in the consolation bracket, advancing to the finals where they will face each other on Tuesday in Middlebury. Haar cruised to a pair of wins before earning a 7-6, 7-5 win in the semifinals, while Faber also had two convincing wins before a 7-6, 7-5 semifinal victory.
In doubles play, Aiello and sophomore Anna Burke (Summit, N.J.) played impressive, on their way to capturing the consolation bracket title. The duo earned a pair of 8-1 wins before picking up an 8-4 victory in the semifinal round. The final match saw the pair come away with an 8-5 win to earn the title.
