Gail Smith Doubles Tourney Hosted on Campus
October 9, 2011
The Middlebury College women's tennis team hosted the fifth annual Gail Smith Doubles Tournament on campus. Thirty doubles teams from eight different schools competed in the tournament, honoring long-time Middlebury coach and administrator Gail Smith. Women's duos from Amherst, Bowdoin, Brandeis, Middlebury, Rochester, Skidmore, St. Lawrence and Trinity took part in the tournament, as well as some open duos. Eight round-robin draws were held, several of them boasting the names of former Panther women's tennis coaches. One team emerged from each draw into the championship round, while the other squads continued round-robin play all weekend.
