Barnes joins the Middlebury staff in '08 after spending the last two seasons coaching running backs at the University of Chicago. He will work with the wide receivers at Middlebury in the fall of ’08.

Barnes began his coaching career at Montclair State University in N.J. in the fall of ’01. He worked with running backs and tight ends during his two years there, along with the kickers. He spent the next two years coaching defensive backs at the University of Redlands in California, before coaching the defensive backs at Utica College in the fall of ’05.

Prior to his coaching career, Barnes earned an mechanical engineering degree from Rice University in ’93. The Coronado, California native spent a few years as an engineer and some time on Wall Street before entering the coaching profession.
