Mandigo continues to work as the head coach of the women’s hockey and golf programs at Middlebury.
HOCKEY BIO:
Mandigo is now in his 22nd season as head coach of the Middlebury women’s hockey program. After leading his team to its first ECAC Championship in '96, Mandigo was named the ECAC Coach of the Year. Since then, he led the team to five more ECAC titles, five national titles and four NESCAC crowns. He has a career record of 391 wins, 98 losses, and 20 ties, giving him more wins than any other coach in any division in the history of women’s college hockey.
In 2001, Mandigo was again honored as the ECAC Coach of the Year, as well as the AHCA National Coach of the Year. In ’01, ’04 and '05, Mandigo was named the AHCA National Coach of the Year.
A 1983 graduate of Wesleyan University, Mandigo began his coaching career at his alma mater as the assistant hockey coach for the men's varsity, serving for two years after his graduation. Mandigo moved on to The Hill School, where he was the boys' head hockey coach from 1985 to 1987. After one year at Burrillville High School in Rhode Island, he moved to Middlebury in the fall of 1988 as the head women's hockey coach and as an assistant coach in both football and baseball. He continues his football duties in the fall at Middlebury. Mandigo works at numerous summer hockey camps and is an active member of the American Women's Hockey Coaches Association. He was also a member of the NCAA Ice Hockey Rules Committee.
After 20 years as an assistant coach with the football team, Mandigo joined the women's golf coaching staff in the fall of '08.
GOLF BIO:
Mandigo began offical duties as head coach of the women's golf program in the fall of '09. After working as the top assistant coach during his first year, he helped guide the Panthers to their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in the spring of '09.
Mandigo also uses the resources of Jim Dayton, the golf pro at Ralph Myhre. Dayton has been involved with the program since its inception in '03-'04. A Middlebury native, Dayton is a member of the PGA. He has held Head Professional positions in Idaho, Utah and California before returning to Middlebury and has been influential in helping the team return to top form.
