Merrill enters his ninth year as the equipment room manager at Middlebury. He spent the previous 17 years as the Athletics Field Crew Leader, with two years as the school’s landscaping supervisor.
In his previous position, Merrill was responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all of Middlebury’s athletic fields. He and his crew also prepare most of Middlebury’s indoor facilities for games and practices on a daily basis. During his 17 years, his fields have won awards and have been well-known as some of the top playing surfaces in the region.
Merrill also bettered himself by attending the Cornell Turf School on two different occasions, while also attending several other turf management seminars, including a week-long program in Florida.
As the equipment room manager, Merrill will be responsible for issuing and servicing equipment and uniforms for all 31 of Middlebury’s varsity teams, as well as junior varsity squads.
