Matthews has been the Director of Sports Medicine at Middlebury since 1993 and has served the Sports Medicine department since 1981.  The native Vermonter was a 1981 graduate of the University of Vermont where he majored in education and minored in athletic training. He earned his masters degree in Sports Sciences from Castleton State College in 1989. Matthew’s primary medical responsibilities include coverage of football, swimming and diving, baseball and softball.
