The mission of leadership education through the Center for Campus Activities and Leadership is to engage students in experiential leadership education, develop their leadership competencies, and empower them to identify, understand, and utilize their leadership capabilities. The program integrates the components of community service, involvement in clubs and organizations, outdoor education, mentoring, critical and reflective thinking, and ethical and moral decision making to cultivate socially responsible leaders capable of working collaboratively to effect positive change.
Working with faculty, staff, and students the program:
- Offers Middlebury students the opportunity to develop their leadership potential through academic coursework. These courses help students to explore the foundational theories of leadership and their practical application.
- Provides a leadership education and development program for students leaders which promotes intellectual, social, spiritual, and personal growth.
- Advises student leaders and their organizations with respect to leadership style, conflict resolution, interpersonal skills, goal setting, creative thinking, ethical decision making, group dynamics, and other developmental and organizational issues.
- Offers ongoing workshops for student organizations .
- Celebrates the achievements of student leaders and student organizations by acknowledging their contributions to the university and the larger communities.
