Getting things done at Middlebury can be a challenge. There are so many deparments, offices and organizations it is often difficult to know where to start.
This guide is set up to help you navigate the "blue tape" that is Middlebury's system of resources.
Best place to start:
Center for Campus Activities and Leadership (CCAL)
CCAL is here to help you plan out whatever initiative, project, program, event, activity or organization you would like. Through one-on-one advising, workshops, fairs, resources, and manuals CCAL works with you to accompiish your goals.
By design,. CCAL does not have funding of its own to directly support student programs. However, we do know where you can find resources across the campus and will assist you in finding sponsors and cosponsors.
Please note that the following listing covers only those funding sources that are open to students and student organizations seeking extra or co-curricular funding. There are also a number of opportunities for undergraduate research.
The Student Governement Assocation, through the SGA Finance Committee, allocates funding to recognized and registered student organzations. go/sgafc.
Student Organizations
There are currently over 130 recognized and registered student organzations at Middlebury College. These groups receive funding to support the mission of their group. In addition, they may use their funding to support the work of individuals and other groups on campus as long as the activity falls with the SGAFC Guidelines and supports the mission of the sponsoring organization.
Middlebury College Activities Board
In addition to student organizations, the SGA also funds the college's programming board - MCAB. MCAB is comprised of a president and treasure, the committee chairpersons for five programming committees and the CoChairs of the five Commons Councils.
This group plans events such as large and small concerts, Welcome Week, Winter Carnival, Familty Weekend, Homecoming, comedians, dance parties, formals and other all campus events. MCAB is also responsible for coordinating the Grille and Free Friday Film series.
Student interested in suggesting ideas for programs or joining MCAB should email the president Ali Levy - mcab@middlebury.edu - or attend one of the monthly open forums.
Groups seeking MCAB cosponsorship for campus events should contact the chairperson of the committee that most meets the type of program:

The Commons regulations on cosponsrship vary by Commons Council. In general, Commons Councils will try to support initiatives and ideas of their residents. At times, Councils will also cosponsor student orgnaizations seeking additional funding for programs that are of interest to the Commons mission.
