Aikido Club

Amnesty International:
The Middlebury College Amnesty International Group is a chapter of the world-wide human rights organization that works for the release of prisoners detained for their beliefs, color, ethnic origin, sex, religion, or language, provided they have neither used nor advocated violence.

Birding Club

Chess Club: This organization provides a relaxed atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and anyone, actually, to come together for a friendly game of chess. Feel free to come on by if you don't know how to play, but want to learn! The chess club usually meets one evening a week.

College Bowl: This newly formed organization gives students the opportunity to compete against each other in team trivia competitions. The organization also coordinates teams of students who then travel to tournaments at colleges throughout the Northeast.

College Democrats: This organization is concerned with stimulating an active interest in politics, especially in the principles and positions of the Democratic Party, and in promoting the participation of interested members in Democratic campaigns.

College Republicans:  The Middlebury College Republicans promote political and social awareness and help to create diversity on the campus by representing and espousing conservative ideals. Through active political involvement in both community and state, this club serves as a medium for students to express and develop their unique political character.

Dialogues for Peace

Dolci:   This organization seeks to give interested students an opportunity to learn about cooking and the challenge of running a restaurant business, as well as providing the student body with a chance to dine in a calm, relaxed atmosphere with other students, faculty, and staff.

Engineering Exploration Organization (EEO):

Environmental Quality (EQ): This organization strives to provide information and activate the Middlebury College community on matters of environmental interest.

Feminist Action at Middlebury (FAM):  Feminist Action at Middlebury promotes awareness of women's issues at Middlebury and all over the world. Working with the Women's and Gender Studies Department, WomenSafe of Addison County, and other organizations and committees here at Middlebury, this group works to examine the roots of misogyny and stop violence against women; Sexual Violence Awareness month, for instance, takes place in April and features dozens of consciousness-raising activities and lectures. FAM is also the main sponsor of V-DAY MIDDLEBURY, an annual production of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES to benefit WomenSafe. The group has weekly organizational meetings and many exciting activities planned for the entire year.

Flying Fists Juggling Brigade:The purpose of this club is to revive the art of juggling as a performing art by instructing members of the community in the various forms of juggling including but not limited to Toss Juggling, Club Juggling, Contact Juggling, Diablo, Devil Sticks, Staff Twirling, Poi, Fire Eating, and Fire Breathing.

Pool Club: The purpose of this organization is to encourage, promote, and organize events pertaining to the activity of playing pool. The club will be using the tables at The Grille for playing. The club will organize and host tournaments for interested players and aims to cement the bond between current pool players and new student participants to help them develop a good game strategy. The Pool Club also plans to hold instructional sessions with professional players for beginning students. All students are encouraged to join.

Roosevelt Institution-Middlebury Branch:

Senior Class Social Committee: The purpose of the Senior Class Committee is to raise class spirit through the organization of events for seniors. The committee plans activities for the class throughout the year, as well as during Senior Week at the end of the Spring semester.

Sign Language Club

Slow the Plow: The Middlebury College Organic Garden is a community effort to grow food while fostering a land ethic, a community ethic, new ideas of sustainability, and what it means to live a good life. MCOG is a student run garden that uses organic and permaculture practices to grow a variety of produce that the group sells to Middlebury Dining Services and donates to the local food shelter. The garden is located on a beautiful knoll in the fields behind Bicentennial Hall.

Southern Society: This group works to raise the awareness on campus of the qualities of southern culture through activities that center on food, music, literature and various presentations. In addition, the society provides a setting for southern Middlebury students to meet and enjoy each others' company, though it is in no way exclusive of students from other areas of the world.

STAND Up!

Student Global AIDS Campaign: The purpose of this club is to increase the level of awareness and concern for the international spread of AIDS and to advocate local and global action. The Middlebury chapter is part of a global network of The Student Global AIDS Campaign. The organization on campus will organize letter-writing campaigns, exhibitions, speakers, films, and help fundraise for the UN AIDS Fund.

Student Investment Committee:  The Student Investment Committee provides an opportunity for students to participate in the active management of a portion of Middlebury's endowment. The Committee is able to invest in domestic and foreign stocks, mutual funds, and options. The club also acts as a liaison between alumni in the financial services and students planning to pursue a career in finance. This goal is achieved through trips to Investment Banks and other financial institutions primarily in the New York and Boston areas. Additional activities include Trading Games with fellow colleges and universities and publication of a monthly investment newsletter.

Students for a Free Tibet (SFT): SFT has over three hundred chapters worldwide. Our goals are to promote awareness of the effects of the Chinese occupation of Tibet, to cultivate an understanding of the rich culture of Tibet that is now facing obliteration, and to take positive action to aid the Tibetan people in securing their basic rights.

Texas Club:
This organization hopes to expose the Middlebury College community to the unique culture and heritage of Texas. Members believe that Texas is a truly unique state that sets itself apart from its southern counterparts. Members work to create a stronger sense of state pride amongst Middlebury's Texan students and faculty members, while introducing the cultural richness of Texas to Middlebury through events such as barbecues, guest speakers, and square-dances.
