Allen Hall: built in 1963 of slate from Fair Haven Vermont, is named for Cecile Child Allen, the wife of George H. V. Allen, Middlebury Alumnus (1949) and treasurer of the College for many years.  Allen accommodates 96 first-year students.  It has four separate floors, a centralized television lounge, and a study lounge.  The Commons Office is located in room 153, on the first floor, just off the central foyer.

Coffrin Hall: was built in 1986 of gray limestone and is named for Judge Albert Wheeler Coffrin, a Trustee of the College for many years and the Chair of the "Coffrin Committee on Student Social and Residential Life" which originally proposed the Commons System. Coffrin Hall, has 133 single rooms and is built into the hillside, such that each of the three sections, south (blue), center (green), and north (orange), has an exit on the ground level. In addition, Coffrin has a large social area and kitchen, two television lounges, and laundry facilities.
