Stewart is Brainerd's primary First-Year Residence Hall housing approximately 116 First-Year students on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and part of the 4th floor. The 4th and 5th floors house 28 Brainerd sophomores this year. 6 FYCs reside in Stewart with the First-Years as well as Elissa Denton '07, who is the Brainerd CRA. The hall's central location is in close proximity to Proctor (which houses the Bookstore and a dining hall), as well as McCullough (student mailroom, Student Employment, and The Grille). It is also just a short walk from the Center for the Arts and the Athletic Facilities. Laundry facilities are on the first floor.

Hepburn, sitting just north of Stewart Hall, provides 163 Upper Class residents with the same advantages of a central location. Two Brainerd RAs reside in Hepburn. Hepburn has five floors with a mix of single and double rooms. Half of the 3rd floor is a quiet hall. There are lounges on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th floor as well as the main Hepburn Lounge on the 1st floor which provides space for hall gatherings, student organization meetings and is also utilized as a dressing room when productions are presented in the ZOO, a student performance space located directly above the lounge. Office space for The Campus, a weekly student publication, is located in the lower level.
