Off-Campus Housing and Lottery
It is a violation of College policy for students to reside off campus without prior approval.
All students approved to live off campus are required to complete and submit an Off Campus Housing contract and a Fee Reduction form. Off-Campus students are also required to provide the Residential Systems Coordinator (RSC), Karin Hall-Kolts, with their off campus housing location and a contact phone number and to update their information when necessary. This is as much for security concerns, as it is to maintain lines of communication between students and the College. It is also advisable for Special and 9th Semester Students to provide the RSC with their contact information.
Students living off campus are expected to be respectful members of the Middlebury community.
The 2010 Spring Term Off-Campus Housing lottery will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd at 4:00 p.m. in the Meeker House Conference room.
Students approved to live off campus for the 2009 Fall Term will need to renew their status for the 2010 Spring Term but WILL NOT need to participate in the lottery; renewal forms must be submitted electronically to khall@middlebury.edu and are due by October 23rd, 2009. Any student who does not meet this deadline will loose the privilege of residing off campus for the Spring Term, have their name removed from the roster and be expected to return to housing on campus in the spring.
New Applications for off campus housing during the 2010 Spring Term must be submitted electronically to khall@middlebury.edu. by Friday, October 30th, 2009. Please follow the instructions on the form carefully and email Karin Hall-Kolts with any questions well in advance.
Students who are awarded a spot on the Off Campus Housing roster during the lottery MUST NOT sign any leases or commit to any housing agreements until after their eligibility and status is confirmed by the RSC. After doing so the RSC will send an email to each student's Middlebury account acknowledging their final approval/denial.
Those students who have been approved will be given a short period of time before they will need to confirm their intentions and submit an Off Campus Housing Contract and a Fee Reduction form.
The 2009-10 fee reductions for Full Time students per term (Fall and Spring) for living and eating off campus is $3,355; the reduction for living off campus and eating on campus is $2,580.
The reduction is credited directly to a student’s tuition bill. Any questions regarding financial aid should be directed to the Student Financial Services office in Meeker.
Because Special Students are expected to live off campus they do not participate in the Off Campus Housing lottery. Credits for Special Students are processed separately. Please contact the Registrar’s office about Special Student status.
