2009-2010 Academic Year
Kristen Faiferlick '10
Hey everyone! I’m Kristen Faiferlick, an International Studies major from Seattle, WA. I am crazy about musical theatre and am looking forward to choreographing MCMP’s West Side Story this spring. I spent last year abroad in China and Chile. I am super excited to be an FYC this year! Never hesitate to come to me with questions, concerns, comments, or anything else that you’d like to share. Welcome to Midd and to Wonnacott!! It’s going to be a great year!
Mwaki Harri Magotswi '11
I'm Kenyan, grew up in Nairobi. Love to travel but hate all the planning and getting ready. As I grew up my role model was Michael Jordan. I love all kinds of sports and I currently play rugby for the Middlebury College Rugby Club and a lot of pick-up basketball. I also enjoy board and electronic games.
I'm currently an Econ major and almost a Computer Science Minor. The best class I ever took at Middlebury was "Collaborative 3D Animation" over J-Term. My favourite classroom is the computer science lab on the 6th floor of BiHall. I'm a consultant at the Middlebury Technology Helpdesk and love working there.
My perfect weekend at Midd:
Play a game of rugby on Saturday,
followed by a post game bbq,
then a movie and chill-time with friends,
wake-up late and have brunch on Sunday,
follow that with lazy reading/audio-book listening..
..I also love ribs.
Hope Yu '11
Hi everyone, my name is Hope. I am a junior Molecular Biology and Biochemistry major and a Mathematics and Music minor. I am from South Burlington, Vermont, which is only forty minutes up the road so please feel free to ask about places to go to in Burlington! I love playing tennis and piano in my free time when I'm not stuck in Bi-Hall. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you and welcoming you to our Wonnacott family!

Xian Chiang-Waren '11
Xian Chiang-Waren is a Febbed junior from New York City, double-majoring in Theatre and Political Science. She has never lived in Battell either.

Melinda (Mindy) Marquis '11
Hello! My name is Mindy Marquis and I am a studio art major from an itty-bitty town in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Growing up in the Great North Woods has led to my interest in many outdoor activities including hiking, fishing and of course snowboarding. Although I am majoring in visual arts, performance through music has always been an important part of my life and I am now a member of the College Choir. I am thoroughly looking forward to working closely with the Wonnacott family and Middlebury’s incoming first-years!

Joseph (Joe) Putko '12
Joe Putko assumes the FYC position as a sophomore, and he is majoring in molecular biology and biochemistry. Joe comes from a large military family: both his parents are in the Army, and he is one of six children. He wants to serve as a FYC because he feels he knows what it's like to be a new member of a community through his family's numerous moves. Also, through his relationships with his many siblings, he values the sense of family, and he feels that he could further his enjoyment in the Wonnacott family as a FYC. Some of Joe's passions are ice hockey, guitar, astronomy, and simply being in Middlebury. His family is currently in Colorado Springs, CO.
