Programming Spaces
One of the necessary components
of Commons-based living is access to spaces where members of a Commons can gather together. As a member of Wonnacott Commons you have available the following programming spaces; keep these in mind as you envision where you'd like to hold a particular event:
The Gamut Room:
The Gamut Room is a coffee house open from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. This space can be used for small social gatherings and is commonly used for musical performances and other club-related activities.
Gifford Annex Lounge:
This large lounge can hold up to 50 people for meetings and other social gatherings. There are several couches and large chairs located in this room along with numerous pieces of art work and a piano.
Commons Head Residence (115 Franklin Street):
This is the college home of the Commons Heads, professors Deb Evans and Will Nash. During their tenure as commons heads, they live with their daughter Hadley and golden retriever Ivy in this home located in the shadow of the new library on 115 Franklin Street.
They host numerous functions for faculty, students, and staff in this space, which is envisioned as a warm, home-away-from-home environment where intellectual and social exchanges between and among these groups can occur.
The types of events range from lectures by guest speakers, dinner conversations and film screenings, to student presentations, reading group gatherings, and Commons Council meetings.
