At each lunch and dinner at least one entree is vegetarian. To accommodate our vegan and lactose intolerant diners, soy milk is available in all of our dining rooms. Each dining room also features salad bar with different items daily, including fresh vegetables, daily specials and a variety of vegetarian and vegan spreads and sandwich fillings. Each dining room has a deli bar, bagels, English muffins, pita and mountain breads, fresh fruit and self-serve ice cream as well as self-serve frozen yogurt .
Ross Dining, a 275-seat facility opened in the Fall of 2002 and is located on the western edge of the campus, in the new buildings that are part of the College's effort to create small communities, or commons, where living, dining and learning all take place in the same area in an environment that encourages a melding of academics and social life.
The new dining hall has high ceilings and one of its walls, consisting largely of windows, faces New York's Adirondack Mountains. Four stations offer “display cooking” which allows students to assemble custom, freshly prepared meals every day with diners options ranging from pizza and deli items to food cooked on a Mongolian grill.

Atwater Dining, has high sloped ceilings and its walls, consisting largely of windows, provide diners with natural light and views toward the Town of Middlebury to the east, and the Green Mountains beyond. The 21,400 square foot oval-shaped dining hall seats 225, features display cooking, a hearth oven which is the focal point as students enter the dining room, and diners may view the food being prepared as they pass through an open serving and cooking area with four cooking platforms and two islands. A vegetated roof, smart seminar room, and a piano lounge are also included.

Proctor Dining Room, (IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION FOR THE 2008-2009 ACADEMIC YEAR - FIC FREEMAN WILL BE OPEN IN IT'S PLACE)there are two different serving lines giving students plenty of options for hot, freshly prepared foods. But if soup, salad and a sandwich are more to your liking, students have direct access our large salad and deli bar. Four beverage stations scattered throughout the dining room also help alleviate lines and congestion, despite the large number of students served at each meal.
With class schedules so hectic, invariably there are some students who just can't make it to the dining halls for lunch. Not to worry. Students with class conflicts can have a bag lunch made for them by our deli person.

Freeman FIC (Language Tables): A family style lunch is served by student wait staff, who communicate with guests using the designated language of each table. These lunches are not only tasty but they are educational as well. In fact, guests of the Language Tables are often joined by the faculty of the various language departments, providing a unique opportunity to practice speaking in the foreign languages for which Middlebury College is so renowned. Lunches are available in Freeman - FIC Monday through Friday. The lunch seating is from 12:20-12:40 p.m.
Dolci:(will not be in operation for the 2008-2009 academic year due to Proctor's renovation) This popular dining option features restaurant style fare and service, prepared and served by students working side by side with Middlebury College Dining Service staff.
Dining is free of charge to students on the board plan but tickets must be picked up in advance on Thursday nights outside the Grille. Seating begins at 5:30 P.M.
Dining Events Middlebury College Dining Service caters a substantial number of events year-round, experiencing an increase around special occasions such as Winter Carnival, commencement and reunion weekend. Dining Events services are also available to groups of students. Our Dining Events staff is located in the dining service office Hamlin - FIC. They are ready to assist you in planning and making arrangements for a successful catered affair.
