Aiport pick-up will be available starting at 10 a.m. from the Burlington (Vermont) Airport on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. If you wish to be picked up at the airport, please submit the Travel Information Form by January 15, 2008.
International travel does not always go exactly to plan. Inevitably, you will encounter delays. There will be transportation available to Middlebury College throughout the day on Tuesday 5. There will also be a representative from Middlebury College at the airport throuhout the day. If you arrive to the Burlington Airport later than expected, you should look for the Middlebury College table near the baggage claim area. There will be someone there to help you get on the next van to the College.
When you are traveling to campus, you will need to show your documents at several points along your journey. Please remember to carry your passport and I-20 in a safe and accessible place at all times.
Remember to check your luggage through to your final destination. However, please note that upon entry to the U.S., you will need to retrieve your baggage to carry it through customs. This means if you enter the U.S. in New York or another major city and then take a domestic flight from that city to Vermont, you must carry find your baggage and carry it through U.S. customs. Once you are through U.S. customs, you will be able to check your luggage from that airport to your final destination (Burlington, Vermont).
If you run into serious difficulties while travelling (meaning if you will arrive a day or more later than expected), contact Middlebury College's Office of Public Safety at 802-443-5911. Public Safety will contact the travel coordinators to alert them to your situation. To confirm your next steps, please leave a phone number where you can be reached or call back again in one hour for updated information. That way, we can determine how to respond most appropriately.
