Each year, Middlebury College hires several Teaching Assistants (TAs) to assist in the teaching of languages during the academic year. Usually, TAs are hired for Arabic, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Teaching Assistants come to the United States on J-1 Exchange Visitor visas as non-degree students.
In order to apply for a J-1 visa, you will need a DS-2019 form. In order for us to produce a DS-2019, you must first complete the DS2019 application form
Once you submit the DS-2019 application and supporting documents, ISSS will issue your DS-2019, which will allow you to apply for a J-1 visa. Please be aware that it can take several weeks to complete the visa application process, so you should submit the DS2019 application to us as soon as possible.
International Student and Scholar Services invites TAs to a short orientation session prior to the beginning of classes to cover immigration issues related with your J-1 visa. Information on the orientation session will be sent to you along with your DS-2019.
