One thing I am: Three-sport athlete (ice hockey, soccer, and lacrosse)

Three things really made Middlebury appealing to me: I would receive an education from one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country; I had the opportunity to compete at the varsity level on three different athletic teams; and I would be living in an environment with a unique sense of community.

Middlebury truly understands the role of athletics in higher education—that it’s part of the overall educational experience. Being an athlete at Middlebury isn’t all that different from being a regular student; we just have the time commitment involved with playing a varsity sport.

I was really excited about the opportunity to compete for a national championship at Middlebury, in any one of my sports. I feel lucky to have played in five championship games, especially winning three of them. The one I’ll remember most was the first title, in men’s hockey, my freshman year. We went over to Norwich, played a double overtime game in the semifinals, and then another overtime game the next day for the championship. It was really a special moment.
