Pushing the Boundaries
As Middlebury becomes a global institution, with ties around the world and with programs demanding cultural fluency, as Middlebury advocates for environmental stewardship—locally, nationally, and internationally—we must also demonstrate the inclusive, forward-thinking qualities needed in communities today.
Middlebury has the responsibility to provide a dynamic and multi-dimensional place for students so that when they graduate they are prepared for today’s world. In creating such an environment, we push the boundaries a bit for everyone. To grow, people need moments of critical thinking and times of new awareness. There may be moments when this idea of coming together with different kinds of people is hard. But that is when the true learning is at hand.
