Dear Students,
I write to highlight a few details regarding your return to campus for fall term 2008. Please carefully review the following procedures.
To ensure that all residence halls are properly cleaned and all repairs have been completed, students may not return to campus until Saturday, September 6, beginning at 7:00 A.M. Please make your travel arrangements to comply with this date. A $400.00 fee per night will be assessed to anyone who arrives early without approval from his/her Commons Dean or Dean Gus Jordan.
Requests for exceptions to this policy may be directed to the following offices:
Individual Requests for Early Arrival: Commons deans will approve early returns for individual students within their Commons. They will consider requests only in cases of personal emergencies. Students who request permission to arrive early for issues related to convenience will be denied.
Groups/Organization Request for Early Arrival: Groups/organizations that request to return early in order to hold a retreat must do so by written request to Dean Jordan no later than May 20, 2008. Groups that receive approval may return to campus beginning at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 4, 2008. The return dates for Fall Term athletic teams will be approved by the Athletic Director, Erin Quinn, and Dean Jordan.
The following groups are pre-approved to return early: RAs, FYCs, Chairs of the Commons Councils, MCAB, SGA Cabinet, student staff selected for the various orientation programs, and student summer workers who are contracted and approved to work. The staff organizers will identify the appropriate return dates for these groups.
Also, please note that the residence halls will re-open in January on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at 7:00 A.M. for the start of classes on Monday, January 5, 2009.
Best wishes on a successful completion of spring semester.
Sincerely,
Augustus E. Jordan
Associate Dean of the College
On behalf of the Early Arrivals Committee
