Weather affects not only the enjoyment of the round of golf, but also the condition of the course. Heavy rain can limit or exclude use of golf carts, and in the extreme, can close the course. The soil at Ralph Myhre Golf Course is clay, and it does not drain well. In the early spring and mid-autumn it is not unusual to have soft and saturated conditions because of the poor drainage, cool temperatures, indirect sunlighten and shorter days.
In the Pro Shop we monitor not only current and projected weather conditions, but also the current and projected condition of the course. Call the Pro Shop at (802) 443-5125 for course conditions.
If golf carts are required, and conditions are such that we are not letting them out, there are two courses nearby that may be alternatives. Neshobe Golf Course in Brandon (20 miles) has a sandier soil that drains well, and Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes (20 miles) often allows carts out when it is infeasible in Middlebury. The Middlebury Pro Shop can assist with tee times.
