kids skiing Ski Programs for School-Age Children

For more than 10 years, Rikert Ski Touring Center has offered programs for school-age children.

Today, Bread Loaf welcomes over 600 school children each week.

Some classroom teachers integrate skiing with academics. Studies of wildlife habitat and Robert Frost's poetry come to life when students see animal tracks in the snow and ski to Frost's summer home. Students have also written essays and solved math problems based on skiing. Many teachers agree that the confidence gained in learing to ski often carries over into the classroom.

The open meadows and wooded trails at Bread Loaf have an otherworldly appeal for children who delight in discoveries from mountain vistas to winding downhill runs.

Enthusiastic instructors lead children in activities that build basic skills for safe skiing. Parents are encouraged to share in this Vermont winter wonderland experience. Many find cross-country sking an affordable family activitiy and Bread Loaf Ski School is the perfect beginning to a lifetime enjoyment of skiing.
