Graduate Counseling Internship Site

Middlebury's Center for Counseling & Human Relations serves as an internship site for students working toward a graduate degree in psychology or counseling.  Students from a number of area colleges, such at Antioch New England Graduate School, Lesley College, and St. Michael's College, have selected Middlebury for their internship experience.

Training Experience:

Depending upon a student's interests and experience, the following training opportunities are available:

Short term individual counseling with undergraduate students

Crisis Intervention

Participation in and development of counseling groups

Assessment of learning disabilities and ADHD

Substance abuse assessments and counseling

Participation in psycho-educational workshops

Participation on multidisciplinary eating disorders treatment team

Multi-faceted interactions with departments and staff at the college

Supervision:

Graduate students receive close supervision of their work by the Counseling Center staff.  A minimum of one hour per week of individual supervision is provided by a Vermont licensed psychologist.  Other supervision opportunities are available from staff members and during the weekly staff meeting.

Organization:

Students typically are with us at the counseling center for a full academic year.  A commitment of 20 hours per week is desirable.
