Emergency Notification System (ENS)

Middlebury College has adopted a new system for alerting members of the campus community about emergencies. Called Rave Alert, the system will also be used by the Monterey Institute of International Studies, our graduate school in Monterey, California.

The switch to the new emergency notification system, provided by the vendor Rave Mobile Safety, should be seamless. Students, faculty, and staff will continue to use Banner Web to maintain their emergency contact information (cell phone for voice and text).  Everyone will continue to receive emergency notifications via multiple channels—text, e-mail, and voice mail—on their phones and/or computers.

In the event of certain emergencies, the College may use the Emergency Notification System (ENS) to send messages to College community members.  In order to receive cell phone call or SMS message, you must enter your cell phone number in BannerWeb.  Remember to update your contact information as necessary.

In order to recognize the email, phone call or text message from the College's ENS, please note important sender information.

  • A message sent to cell phones will display the following number: 802-388-0409
  • An SMS (text message) will display the number 802-388-0409

These numbers should be added to your cell phone contact list.
