The departments of advancement communications, constituent records, gift administration, reporting, and stewardship support the efforts of college advancement by providing the information and infrastructure needed to inform and engage alumni, parents, and friends about the college and to report on the impact of their philanthropy.
This group is responsible for annual on-campus events: Reunion, Fall Family Weekend, Homecoming, Alumni Golf Tournament in honor of Gordon E. Perine '49, Feb Celebration and Alumni College at Bread Loaf. In addition, the staff works with volunteers around the world to organize, advertise, register and connect alumni and parents for various events off-campus, at the same time expanding social media connections with alumni via Facebook, Twitter and other emerging technologies. This office works directly with the Middlebury College Alumni Association Board, planning 3 meetings each year, partnering on shared initiatives to maximize the lifelong engagement of alumni with Middlebury.
The Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations seeks to cultivate and strengthen relationships with corporations, foundations and federal agencies committed to the advancement of education. The office supports College initiatives through the preparation of institutional grant applications and by reporting on grant-supported projects and academic accomplishments.
The offices of Annual Giving, Leadership Gifts, Principal Gifts, Gift Planning, Parent Giving, and Graduate Giving comprise the Middlebury Development team. This group of experienced professionals works with individual undergraduate alumni, attendees and graduates of our Language Schools and Bread Loaf School of English, parents, and friends to garner immediate and long-term financial support for Middlebury, providing opportunities for donors to experience the joy of giving back. We also provide expertise to those interested in making a gift that can help meet their investment and income needs while helping Middlebury educate the world's most promising students.
The office of the vice president provides strategic direction and leadership to alumni and parent programs and fund raising efforts to engage alumni, parents, and friends in the mission of the College. Currently, the College is engaged in the Middlebury Initiative, a $500 million comprehensive capital campaign that builds on Middlebury's unique strengths in languages, international studies, and environmental affairs while focusing on support for access and opportunity, teaching and mentoring, program and infrastructure development, and institutional flexibility.
