Davis UWC Annual Celebration Dinner

Davis UWC Scholars from the Classes of 2012 and 2012.5 gather with President Ron Liebowitz, Shelby Davis, and Phil Geier following the Annual Celebration Dinner. They hold prayer flags that were presented to Shelby Davis by Khando Kyi '12 on behalf of all of Middlebury's Davis UWC Scholars.

More than 150 people gathered on May 10 to celebrate the Davis United World College Scholars Program. President Liebowitz gave a warm welcome to the audience, especially the evening's guests of honor, the Davis UWC Scholars Program cofounders, Shelby Davis P'01 and Phil Geier P'06. President Liebowitz commented on the program's remarkable growth since it launched in 2000. Middlebury was one of the program's pilot schools, and in its twelve years on campus the program has become an integral part of the community—277 Davis Scholars from 68 countries have attended Middlebury.

During the celebration, Savant Shrestha '13 and Bee Ndlovu '12 served as emcees. Several Davis Scholars provided entertainment: Gabriela Juncosa '13 performed classical guitar, Harlem Saavedra '12 and Rafael Velazco '15 performed a Peruvian dance, and Savant performed a song with Cagan Koc '13. The evening's speakers were Phil Geier P'06, Khando Kyi '12, and Shelby Davis P'01. You can hear remarks from the dinner by clicking on the links below.
