Kenneson Chen

Faculty

Kenneson received his BA in Latin, German, and Ancient Greek from Swarthmore College. After spending a year in Linz, Austria, as an English teaching assistant through the Austrian Educational Commission, he began a PhD program in German Literature at UC Berkeley where he had recently completed his MA review.

Kenneson's research interests include the reception of the Classics in German literature, politics and poetics of German-Turkish rap, questions of German and Austrian identity, and narratological structures of societal (para)texts. He began learning German at the Middlebury German School in the summer of 2011.

GRMN 3101 - Elementary German      

Daily activities include four hours of classroom instruction, plus additional work in the language laboratory and computer center. Emphasis will be placed on the grammatical structures of German as well as on conversation and correct pronunciation. Reading comprehension skills are introduced through primary texts, including literature. Throughout the program, audio-visual presentations supplement regular classroom activities.
