Why did you choose to study at the Middlebury Language Schools?

I chose to study at Middlebury because of its exceptional reputation of quality education and professors, unique immersion experience, flexibility, and the opportunity to study abroad in Spain and Argentina while working on my master's degree.

Please describe how your language skills improved due to your studies at Middlebury.

In my daily life, I never speak just one language, so the language pledge forced me to fill in any gaps that I had in the target language and to focus completely on making it pristine. I use Spanish in both informal settings with friends and other people I come into contact with as well as in a formal setting with my Spanish students and my academic research and studies. My goal is eventually to be a university professor of modern languages and linguistics, so I would be using the language here as well.

What advice would you give someone wanting to attend the School of Spanish?

I do not know of any other program that combines a total immersion experience with quality education in a fun, encouraging atmosphere than Middlebury. You will both make great progress on your knowledge and competence in the target language and culture as well as have an unforgettable experience.

What surprised you about your experience at the Middlebury Language Schools?

The wonderful atmosphere in the campus between students, teachers and staff. All interact together as a big family. Also, the very high profiles of the teachers. It´s a privilege to have highly qualified teachers from different countries in the same place.

Why did you choose to study at the Middlebury Language Schools?

Middlebury is a world known school for languages. I've studied various foreign languages so I thought it would be the place for me. Friends recommended it, and now I recommend it to others.

Please describe how your language skills improved due to your studies at Middlebury.

The daily interaction between students and teachers and the use of language in Middlebury helped me to improve my language skills as there is always space for discussions in class and for writing. At a certain point, it´s not only about grammar and vocabulary but also about the way you speak, the expressions you use and the different terminology used in Latin-American and Spain. I use Spanish everyday in my life.

What advice would you give someone wanting to attend the School of Spanish?

Studying in Middlebury is a unique experience, very enriching and special.

What surprised you about your experience at the Middlebury Language Schools?

I was surprised (and delighted!) by the level of enthusiasm most everyone had for the Language Pledge. It was nice being able to nerd out with so many like-minded people.

Why did you choose to study at the Middlebury Language Schools?

Middlebury is the gold standard for language learning, and I wanted the best experience.

Please describe how your language skills improved due to your studies at Middlebury.

It broke my brain in the best possible way. Each morning, my first thoughts were in Spanish. Each time I would see or hear English, my first instinct was to ignore or shy away. English felt very much off limits, and it took a few days to shake this feeling after leaving campus in August.
