Evgeny Dengub

STARTALK Instructor

Evgeny Dengub holds a PhD from Bryn Mawr College in Second Language Acquisition in Russian. During the academic year, he is a lecturer in Russian in Amherst College and Mount Holyoke College. At the Davis School of Russian at Middlebury College, he has worked as both a lead instructor and testing coordinator for a number of years. 

He is co-author of two Russian language textbooks, Russian for Advanced Students (Dunwoody Press, 2013) and Panorama: Intermediate Russian Language and Culture (Georgetown University Press, forthcoming), as well as the language learning supplement to Russian Life magazine.

Dr. Dengub has authored and led a variety of workshops and training sessions for teachers both in Russia and the United States and has supervised the work of instructors and teaching assistants at the Davis School of Russian and Amherst College.

He is co-founder of the Online Resource Center for Teachers of Russian (TeachRussian.org), which currently includes activities, lesson plans, tests, and so on, for Russian teachers around the globe.

An active OPI, OPIc and WPT tester and rater, Dr. Dengub possesses thorough knowledge of ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, the Oral proficiency test protocol, and proficiency-based instruction.
