The following notice was issued by Middlebury College Department of Public Safety on March 14 at 4:52 p.m.

Dear Students:

As a result of the College closure, all of the buildings on campus will be locked with the following exceptions:

  • Proctor Dining Hall and Ross Dining Hall will be open for dinner
  • Midd Express in McCullough will remain open until 10 p.m.
  • Public Safety will remain open 24/7; (802) 443-5133

Student vehicles must be parked in student lots. This will assist with plowing and snow removal operations. Travel will become more difficult as the storm continues. Leave your car safely parked for the remainder of the day and night.

Do not walk in the roads. In heavy snow storms, drivers have less visibility and need more distance to stop safely.

Residence hall doors – if you go in or out a door, please make sure the door closes securely. Blowing snow and ice can build up preventing the door from securing properly, and this can result in frozen/burst pipes.Lisa Burchard,
Director, of Public Safety, Associate Dean of the College
