Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio Returns to Middlebury

College

The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, which opened

the Middlebury College Concert Series last fall, will return to

the Concert Hall at the College’s Center for the Arts at 7:30

p.m. on Tuesday, April 7. The group will conclude its survey of

the piano trios by Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Brahms, which the

musicians began last season. Their program for this concert will

be Mendelssohn’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in D Major,

Schubert’s Trio in B-flat Major, Opus 99, and Brahms’ Trio

in B Major, Opus 8.

Since their debut at the inauguration of President

Carter in 1977, pianist Joseph Kalichstein, violinist Jaime Laredo

and cellist Sharon Robinson have performed regularly together

at summer festivals, chamber music series and major international

music centers, from Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center. Ranking

in the highest echelon of chamber ensembles, the trio has produced

a number of recordings, including a three-CD “Vox Box”

(Vox Cum Laude), featuring the three Brahms trios, the two Mendelssohn

trios, and the Dvorak Dumky. “There is no finer piano

trio than Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson,” says the Chicago

Sun Times.

Tickets for this concert series performance are $9.00

general admission and $7.00 for senior citizens. A pre-performance

dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the Rehearsals Cafe in the Center for the

Arts is also available. To order tickets or make dinner reservations,

please call the College box office at 802-443-6433.
