Award-winning violinist and pianist to perform together in free concert Oct. 9

MIDDLEBURY,

VT-

Violinist Soovin Kim and pianist Jeremy Denk-both award-winning musicians-will

give a free recital at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Concert

Hall at the Middlebury College Center for the Arts on South Main Street

(Route 30).

Soovin

Kim is a native of Plattsburgh, N.Y. After playing in the Vermont Youth

Orchestra, he studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and at the

Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. In 1996 he won the gold medal at the

Paganini International Violin Competition. In addition to having a solo

career, he is also a member of the Johannes String Quartet.

Pianist

Jeremy Denk is a recipient of the Juilliard School of Music’s William

Petschek Piano Debut Award and is a member of the faculty of Indiana University’s

School of Music.

The

concert is sponsored by Middlebury College Brainerd Commons, and is free

and open to the public.
