Elderly Day Care Kitchen Assistant

Primary Purpose

Do you like working with elders? Be part of a professional team sharing the planning and implementation of a high quality program of education, delicious meals, therapeutic recreation, emotional support and individualized care of frail elders. The Kitchen Assistant will be alert to the needs and welfare of the participants at all times, and will help on the floor in an emergency or time of staff shortage. Regular kitchen duties include;

Dishwashing by hand and loading/unloading dishwasher

General clean-up of kitchen

Putting away dishes, pan, utensils, etc...

Assitance with meal preparation

Assistance with special diet dishes (pureeing, diabetic, etc...)

Assitance with receiving and putting away orders

Be friendly, caring, courteous and respectful with co-workers and participants

Communicate in a concise and effective manner

Be dependable and follow through on commitments

Good communication skills and willingness to be part of a team. Comfort and skill chopping fruits and vegetables (lots of on-the-job training). Willingness to learn how to run a professional kitchen-sized dishwasher. Most importantly, a strong commiment to eldercare, dignity, respect, and independent livings for elders.
