Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include working at the farm for a number of hours each week as well as coordinating and directing volunteer efforts at the farm site. This includes soliciting student volunteers and working closely with the Farm Manager to prioritize projects and direct labor. Employees should expect to send e-mail updates to the farm list and facilitate incentive programs such as the student fall CSA operation. Interns will also be involved in obtaining and maintaining organic certification, ordering seeds and communicating with local farmers. These employment positions will follow the growing season. Therefore, the positions begin during spring semester (March, April and the first week in May) with hours increasing as the farm warms up. The same two workers will continue in the position after returning to campus in the fall. The hours will then decrease appropriately as fall crops are harvested. The position ends after the farm is put to bed for the winter. Per-week commitment may vary according to weather. Employees will be working closely with the Farm Manager to determine an accurate schedule on a week-to-week basis. The position will require approximately 70 hours of time.
Experience
Because the position involves a good amount of autonomy and leadership, it is preferred that applicants have some prior farm experience as well as being confident in their ability to convey information about farming techniques to volunteers.

To apply please answer the following questions, not to exceed 500 words total: Why do you want the position? What is your farming and/or gardening experience?
