One thing I can definitively say is that my Spanish is so much
better than it was before studying in Mexico. Honestly, even though it was difficult at times, especially in the beginning, I owe a significant portion of my language advancement to the Middlebury Language Pledge.
I gained so much by becoming friends with my Mexican classmates rather than just hanging out with the other international students. Everyone was so eager to explain the minute intricacies of the Spanish language that I felt comfortable asking for clarifications.
My two recommendations to anyone who studies abroad: take advantage of EVERY cultural opportunity available to you and socialize with the local students because they will provide an experience of the country you won’t get from anyone else.
