Senior Year Timeline

Here is a list of activities and actions you can take throughout your senior year to help you successfully plan for graduation.


NOTE: If you missed Senior Meeting you can view the online make-up session for Senior Meeting and complete the recruiting Code of Conduct (both are required to participate in the Middlebury recruiting program). Call ext. 5100 for more information.


September

  • Attend Senior Meeting and sign the recruiting Code of Conduct.
  • Explore the career sections of the CCI website.
  • Update your resume and meet with a career adviser to establish your individual plan for conducting an effective job search or graduate school search. Career advisers are available throughout Senior Week RESUMANIA or during daily Drop-In hours during the year.
  • Update your MOJO profile with your industry preferences. This will allow us to send you the information you need about MOJO job listings in those industries.
  • Consult the MOJO calendar regularly for all career events, including employer and graduate school visits and deadlines. New opportunities are added daily.
  • Apply for job interviews held during the off-campus interview days in New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
  • Research the time of year when different employers/industries recruit.
  • Purchase professional attire for interviews. See a career adviser or the "Dress for Success" section of our website for suggestions on interview attire.
  • Once you have been invited by an employer for an interview, schedule a practice interview with a career adviser.

October

  • If you haven't yet met with a career adviser to develop your individual senior year plan, be sure to do so; come in during Drop-In hours (Mon–Fri, 2:00–5:00 p.m.).
  • See a career adviser to learn how to use MiddNet, Middlebury's volunteer network of alumni.
  • Attend "Careers in the Common Good" symposium.
  • Attend Super Saturday, NYC Fall Break Trip, and consulting-based programs.
  • Attend winter-term internship information session and submit your winter-term internship proposal.
  • Apply to Eastern College Career Day—Boston (off-campus interview day).
  • Begin on-campus interviewing, if appropriate timeline for your career field.

November/December

  • Review the CCI website for information and timeline for graduate school applications.
  • Attend a Career Conversations event and meet alumni presenters.
  • Get MOJO help from a career adviser during Drop-In hours (Mon–Fri, 2:00–5:00 p.m.).
  • Explore postgraduate fellowships and grants. Schedule an appointment with a fellowships adviser (call ext. 5100).
  • Attend employer information sessions.
  • Interview with employers (if invited and scheduled) at the Eastern College Career Day—Boston.
  • Begin or continue your networking by searching and contacting MiddNet alumni volunteers.
  • If applying to graduate school, take the GRE and necessary subject tests. Consult the Graduate School section of the CCI website.
  • Sign up for a senior winter-term workshop.
  • See a career adviser for help with writing cover letters.
  • Apply to the Capital Consortium—Washington, D.C. (off-campus interview day).

January/February

  • See a career adviser to learn how to network through MiddNet.
  • Attend a senior winter-term workshop.
  • Get MOJO help from a career adviser during Drop-In hours (Mon–Fri, 2:00–5:00 p.m.).
  • Continue your networking by searching and contacting MiddNet alumni volunteers.
  • See a career adviser for help with writing cover letters.
  • Attend a Career Assessment workshop or Career Action Group workshop.
  • Attend a Career Conversations event and meet alumni presenters.
  • Apply to Eastern College Career Day resume collection.
  • Off-campus interviews in Washington, D.C.

March/April

  • Attend the annual Spring Job Fling.
  • Continue to check MOJO listings regularly.
  • See a career adviser for help with writing cover letters.
  • Begin or continue your networking by searching and contacting MiddNet alumni volunteers.
  • Interview with employers (if invited and scheduled) at the New York Interview Day.
  • Attend a Career Conversations event and meet alumni presenters.

May

  • Fill out the Senior Survey before graduation.
  • Keep career services/CCI apprised of your postgraduate career plans.
  • Graduate! Congratulations!
  • Check out the Alumni section of the career services website.
  • Become a MiddNet volunteer.
