College Recess Information

Students may register to remain on campus during the following academic school year recesses: Midterm Recess, Thanksgiving Recess, Winter-term Recess and Spring Recess. During these recesses dining halls may have limited hours or be closed all together; review the Dining Services Calendar and Parton Health and Counseling Center’s website for details. Other College offices and facilities may also have limited hours of operation or be closed.

For safety and security purposes the College requires students who intend to remain on campus at any time during a recess to register on BANNER. Public Safety sends an email notification prior to each recess with instructions.

December Recess – End of Fall Term

The College completely closes at the end of the fall term. During the December Recess college offices, dining rooms and facilities are closed and services are severely restricted.

Students are required to depart from campus 24-hours after their last exam. If your final exam falls on Sunday, December 16 you must depart campus no later than 12:00 noon on December 17.

Students may not arrive for the start of the Winter Term in advance of, the posted dates. For 2013, students may return on January 6 after 9:00 AM. Classes Begin 8:00 AM on Monday, January 7.

In rare cases, students who have received special permission from their Commons Dean or are a member of an approved athletic team may remain on campus. Details about the application process are shared in an all student email in advance of the recess.
