Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund

PURPOSE
Funding advanced education and graduate study carried out in the United States of America. “Mrs. Liebmann’s primary concern, as expressed in her will, was to attract and support students with outstanding character and ability who hold promise for achievement and distinction in their chosen field of study.”
This award funds graduate school fellowships in any recognized field of study in the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture or other formal professional training).
ELIGIBILITY
- Outstanding undergraduate records (minimum 3.7; 3.8 more competitive)
- Demonstrated a need for financial assistance (i.e., have received significant financial aid in the form of grants as undergraduates)
- U.S. citizens
- Evidence of outstanding character
- Plans to enroll fall of 2013 in a graduate program in the United States
AWARD
The amount of each fellowship will cover the cost of tuition and a stipend to be allocated towards room, board, living expenses and income taxes ($18,000 + tuition).
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Deadlines (internal and external) for scholarships and fellowships listed on the Middlebury website can be found on the Dates and Deadlines page; external deadlines are also listed on program websites.
- Submit the following documents to Fellowships Advisor Amy McGlashan.

- Up to 3-page personal statement explaining graduate school plans; include clarity of career purpose in pursuing graduate study and your graduate study objectives.

- Middlebury may nominate 3 candidates for this fellowship. Nominees will be determined and notified by mid-November.
- Nominees will work with Amy McGlashan, the fellowship adviser, to prepare all final materials during December and January.
- Please note that nominees will be expected to submit transcripts from any other undergraduate institution you may have attended during your college years, as well as your last two years of federal tax returns and copies of all graduate school entrance scores. All applicants should make sure these documents will be at your disposal in January.
- Final materials must be submitted to Amy McGlashan
- Decisions will be announced by the Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Trustee and Selection Committee in April.
