Middlebury families are a welcome, active, and important part of the community.

We invite you to participate in a variety of ways and to attend Middlebury events virtually and on campus. Be sure we have your email address!

If you have questions about parent programming, please contact the Office of Alumni and Parent Programs at (802) 443-5183 or parents@middlebury.edu. We hope to see you on campus in the future.

Family Orientation

We have many orientation events that take place virtually prior to arrivals as well as in person on move in day for families. In person orientation events for families take place on move in day for fall and spring arrivals. Programs typically overlap with the move in timeframe and begin at 10 AM and end around 5 PM. The opportunities for families are optional and not required. Please view our orientation page for more information about orientation programs. A detailed schedule will be available as we approach the arrival dates.

Alumni College

Alumni, families of past and current students, and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend Alumni College, which combines a relaxing late-summer weekend in Vermont with the opportunity to be inspired by some of our finest faculty. Share in a professor’s knowledge and enthusiasm during engaging discussions and field trips, enjoy delicious meals with faculty and classmates, and have a chance to see firsthand what your student has been experiencing.

Fall Family Weekend

Fall Family Weekend is an opportunity for families to visit campus and participate in a wide variety of academic, social, cultural, and athletic events or attend a class on Friday morning. Families of incoming Febs are welcome to attend in the fall, prior to their student’s arrival.

Homecoming

Fall in Vermont is a beautiful time of year. Spend time on campus or take your student for a hike or day trip to see some of the many nearby sights. Homecoming programming is geared toward alumni but open to all families.

Middlebury Parents Facebook Group

Have questions? Need advice? The Middlebury Parents Facebook group is for parents and guardians of current Middlebury students who have committed and deposited and for parents of Middlebury graduates. Over 3,000 members exchange information and contribute a wealth of experience and knowledge. Page administrators periodically add content that seems parent-worthy, such as upcoming events, student achievements, campus photos, career/internship advice, break bus schedules, and links to questions that are posed by parents.

Recipes from Home

Does your family have a favorite dish that your student would enjoy eating in the dining hall? Send us your favorite recipe and let us recreate the flavors and aromas that remind students of home. Recipes will be prepared in our kitchens using only the freshest ingredients. We will let your student know when we serve their recipe and we will display their name beside the dish.

Please submit your ideas and be as detailed as possible!
