Cason Scholarship

The Cason Scholarship Award is in memory of Jeffrey W. Cason who served as Dean of International Programs at Middlebury College for nine years. This scholarship is in recognition of his lifelong passion for international teaching, learning, and study abroad.

Students from colleges and universities other than Middlebury are eligible for this $3,000 award.

Passport Grants Available

The Office of International Programs is pleased to announce the availability of Passport Grants to Middlebury undergraduates who receive at least 50% of their tuition in the form of aid from Middlebury.

Grants are open to Middlebury 1st-year and 2nd-year students and applications are reviewed monthly (during the academic year).

The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship

Provides awards for study abroad, for U.S. citizens who are receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application. Read more about Gilman Scholarships.

The Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships

Offered up to $5,000 per semester and are not limited to specific programs, destinations, or fields of study. FEA awards funds to students planning to study abroad on academically rigorous programs with a strong preference for underrepresented students. Read more about FEA Scholarships.

The Fund for Education Abroad BASAA Scholarship

Dedicated to increasing access for underrepresented students in study abroad. This scholarship (up to $5,000) will be awarded to a deserving student who attends a US university/college located in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Connecticut. The Fund for Education Abroad Rainbow Scholarship

Awarded to a deserving LGBTQ student who aims to participate in an education abroad program. Read more about Rainbow Scholarships.

BUTEX (British Universities Transatlantic Exchange Association)

Offers one or two scholarships (£500 each) for Study Abroad and Exchange students from Canada and the United States who are attending BUTEX member institutions. Read more about BUTEX.

Association of Teachers of Japanese: Bridging Scholarships for Study Abroad in Japan

A professional association offering resources for studying Japan, including undergraduate scholarships. Read more about Japan scholarships.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

An undergraduate scholarship program offering funding to study, do research and/or internships in Germany. Read more about German scholarships

Delta Phi Alpha offers scholarships ($1250)

Independent Project Funding

Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs (RCGA) at Middlebury College and Middlebury’s Sustainability Office promote the integration of students’ study abroad with their independent research interests, or participation in events/projects related to sustainability.

Both Middlebury College undergraduates on an approved study abroad program and undergraduates from other institutions who will be studying at a Middlebury-C.V. Starr School Abroad are invited to submit proposals for funding.
