If you haven’t yet heard the news, Middlebury College and award-winning Orion magazine are teaming up to launch The Bread Loaf Orion Environmental Writers’ Conference in June 2014. Dan Brayton, associate professor of English and American Literatures, will act as the liaison between the undergraduate college and the conference. “This new summer program offers extraordinary opportunities for developing new synergies between existing Middlebury entities, including the Middlebury Environmental Studies curriculum, the Bread Loaf School of English, and the venerable Bread Loaf Writers' Conference,” said Brayton. Integration between the ES Program and the new conference will begin in late January when renowned author Gary Nabhan serves as Franklin Environmental Center’s 2014 Environmentalist-in-Residence, co-hosted by the Bread Loaf Environmental Writer’s Conference. In addition, qualified Middlebury undergraduates can apply to participate in the conference. Two scholarships will be available for these students.
