The R/V Folger, Middlebury College’s new research vessel, is home on Lake Champlain

On Saturday, October 20th, the R/V Folger was officially dedicated during a celebration at the Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes. Before arriving home to Lake Champlain in early September, the research vessel encountered an invasive species, the spiny water flea, which prompted a cleaning of the boat and a demonstration of environmental stewardship.

Van Jones inspires at VNRC 50th Anniversary

Last Saturday, Middlebury students, faculty, and staff attended the celebration at Shelburne Farms which featured Van Jones, president and cofounder of Rebuild a Dream, as the keynote speaker. Following Jone’s inspirational and energizing speech, he answered questions prepared by Middlebury students in Professor Jon Isham’s first year seminar, ”Social Entrepreneurship and Social Justice”.
