Sustainability class being offered at Alumni College
July 15, 2010
The 35th Alumni College will be held August 26—29 at Bread Loaf. Jack Byrne, director of sustainability integration, and Stephen Trombulak, Mead Professor of Environmental and Biosphere Studies, will be teaching a class entitled Sustainability at Middlebury College, and Beyond. Through discussion and field trips, the class will explore concepts of sustainability, using projects and progress at Middlebury as an example of sustainable solutions.
Professor Trombulak expresses his excitement about the class: "Jack Byrne and I are extremely pleased to be able to teach this class for the Alumni College. This is an exciting time to be talking about sustainability from several perspectives—from those of the College and local communities on up through those of state, national, and global current events. We’ve been teaching about and working on sustainability issues for a variety of audiences for several years now, and bringing this conversation to Alumni College this year is a great opportunity."
Alumni College is open to alumni, parents, and friends of the College. Other classes offered range from Shakespeare's Sonnets to Globalization in the Aftermath of the Great Recession of 2008. To learn more or register, click here.
