Middlebury College Recognized Among Sustainability Leaders in Higher Education by Second Nature’s Climate Leadership Awards
October 2, 2013
Middlebury College is a finalist in Second Nature’s Climate Leadership Awards, which recognize innovative and advanced leadership among campuses that participate in the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. As part of the nomination process, Second Nature and Planet Forward sponsored a video voting competition. Members of the college community and beyond can show their support by voting for Middlebury’s submission.
“Middlebury’s Climate Commitment: Putting Ethos into Action” highlights the college’s goal to be Carbon Neutral by 2016. Told through the voice of Ben Wessel ’11, Policy Campaigns Manager at 350.org and Environmental Studies major, the video illustrates how sustainability is lived at Middlebury every day—a culture fostered by the campus’ natural surroundings, integrated Environmental Studies curriculum, administrative leadership, and passionate students.
Viewers have the opportunity to vote for an institution once a day everyday through the end of April. Second Nature will formally recognize Middlebury on the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment and Second Nature websites on Tuesday, April 9th.
