Student and Faculty Research
Psychology majors are encouraged to participate in directed and independent research projects or senior theses.
I hear that the College now requires student researchers to be trained in the Responsible Conduct of Research. Does this mean I have to develop a new course?
No (and note that the requirement originated with the National Science Foundation, not the College). For now, only students participating in NSF-funded research must be trained, and we’re using online training. To learn more about the College’s training plan, click here.
How much can I pay my student workers?
Student pay rates vary depending on what skill level is required and whether you will pay by the hour or through a weekly stipend. If you're not sure what rate to use, check with the Student Employment Office.
Can I hire students to work on grant-funded research?
Yes. Depending on the circumstances, you'll need to work with Human Resources, the Student Employment Office, the Undergraduate Research Office, the Grants Accounting Office, or some combination of these offices.
