Note: Credit card style mag-stripe readers are not managed by Public safety. Click here for more information.
Academic - Buildings with No residential rooms.
Mixed - Buildings containing both residential and academic rooms.
Residence - Residential buildings.
The Enhanced Access System uses proximity cards, (access cards) issued by the Department of Public Safety to authorized students, faculty, staff and guests, to control access to buildings. The system will electronically unlock doors designated and marked as Entrances when an active card with privileges for that building is presented to the card reader mounted beside the door.
The MiddCard is an official form of identification at Middlebury College. You should protect the card just like a credit card, driver's license or other valuable piece of identification. You are expected to take reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorized use. The cards are the property of the college and should be presented or surrendered to college staff upon request. More information about MiddCard polices can be found in the College handbook.
